About Chelsea

Chelsea Carlson is an award-winning singer/songwriter, who splits her time between Mount Olive and Brick NJ.  She has over a decade of musical experience under her belt, from attending Berklee College of Music to winning Top New Female Act at the 2013 Jersey Acoustic Music Awards, to having her debut album “The Broken Road” premiere in Songwriting Magazine in 2016.  She has played at over 100 venues and festivals throughout the tri-state area including the Hard Rock Cafe, Bitter End, Wonder Bar, Maxwell’s Tavern, Stanhope House, and more. Chelsea’s original music has been described as powerful, raw, and catchy. A lover of many types of music, Chelsea has forged her own style that captures the emotion of alternative music, the soul of rock, the storytelling of folk, and the hooks of pop music, and turns it into something new and exciting.  After a brief stint of performing under the stage name Carlsea in 2018, Chelsea has returned to using her real name for performances and is currently working on new music.  Her latest work, "A Cozy Christmas," was released in December 2020.

In addition to original music, Chelsea is available to perform up to three hours of covers in numerous genres, ranging from Led Zeppelin to Adele, accompanying herself on acoustic guitar, piano, and ukulele.  No matter the setting, Chelsea’s true home is onstage and her shows always leave people wanting more!

In recent years, Chelsea has followed her love of performance on new adventures, including roles in community theater plays such as “It’s a Wonderful Life” at County College of Morris, short films such as “The Sugartits: A Pop Star Parody,” and has been part of the cast of the New Jersey Renaissance Faire for four seasons.  She also is part of a folk trio called Bardy Pardy, which is currently in production for their first album together as a group. In 2021, Chelsea also joined the Artist Collective Troupe, a nonprofit dedicated to supporting the arts in the greater Ocean County area, as Director of Music and Media.  Additionally, Chelsea teaches music lessons in voice, guitar, piano, ukulele, and bass and enjoys opening up the world of music to her students.

When she is not performing, you can find Chelsea playing with her five dachshunds, pouring over travel websites, re-watching Gilmore Girls for the hundredth time, and trying (and failing) to learn German.
